Crosseyed and Remixed

2009.08.22

The first post in almost nine months!

This is a re-mix/mashup of “Crosseyed and Painless” by Talking Heads.  The majority of the sounds come from the original song, but I also pulled a few from some other tracks on Remain in Light.  To be honest, I am not all that happy with this piece.  I decided, though, that the best way to make this one better was to move on.  This one is a bit of a “transition,” if you will.

Council of Trent

2009.01.25

This is basically the Kyrie from Palestrina’s Missa Papae Marcelli chopped up, slowed down, and twisted.  I suppose this might qualify as sacrilege for some, but I think it sounds pretty cool, and is just as moving as the original.

1/1.1

2008.12.22

I didn’t really sit down to write a “re-make” or “re-mix,” but that is kind of what ended up coming out.  All the musical “material” I used came from the first six notes of “1/1″ from Music for Airports, everything else you hear are just overtones.

Idioteque 2.0

2008.10.17

This is a remix of one of my favorite tracks on Radiohead’s Kid A.  I limited myself to using samples only from the original, just to make it interesting.  Actually at the very end I slipped in a sample from the string quartet version, but that almost doesn’t count.

My take on Kid A‘s third track.

“The National Anthem” arranged for solo double bass + loop player. Recorded live at Ricks College, 11/04.
